The Greatest Hero the World Has Never Known...

Booster Gold.

a key player in my very own comic book storyline...

i picked up all 14 (counting 1,000,000) issues he's come out with, not counting #0 (which i hope to pick up tomorrow/today along with #14 which conveniently comes out tom...) today/yesterday and was pleasantly surprised.

now if i could pick up those 3 back issues of Secret Six...

BG was/is an excellent read and i reccomend it to anyone who loves excellent storytelling, lighthearted wisecracking heroes, or just time-travel in general...

i also love how BG and Bats form a sortof...actual...friendship! Bruce truly respects Booster now...

anyway, loved it and can't wait for tomorrow's/today's issue(s)!

Bwahahahaha!!!

The Old "New" Days...

sometimes i miss the days when i read DC Comics as a kid...i wish DC hadn't "Rebirthed" some of these guys and just kept it how it was in the 1990's...
Wally West was THE Flash
Kyle Rayner was the LAST Green Lantern
Conner Hawke was Green Arrow
Bruce Wayne was Batman
Tim Drake was Robin
Dick Grayson was Nightwing
Jason Todd, Barry Allen, Hal Jordan, and Ollie Queen were DEAD! and everyone was happier!
Superman and Aquaman were actually cool!
Bart Allen was Impulse. and alive. ditto Kon-El.
the Justice League consisted of:
Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
The Flash
Green Lantern
Aquaman
Martian Manhunter
Plastic Man
there was no JSA!

i would love to see where we would be now if things had been allowed to grow from what the 90's were in DC, character-wise...

"Resist Darkseid and he will flee..."

well, Final Crisis: Resist came out today, making it the first Rucka-penned ish i've ever read or owned. kudos, Greg!

it was freakin awesome!

Snapper Carr can teleport by snapping! genius!

Cheetah was sinister, yet...seductive. very clever portrayal, i thought...

Mr. T(errific) was awesome! like always...

Fire and Ice had their brief reunion...until Anti-Life justified their hatred...

and, the coolest part of all (besides Snapper Carr's metagene) was that Mr. Terrific activated the OMACs! more Jack Kirby creations are involved in this! the New Gods, Mister Miracle, the OMACs...all Kirby!

anyway, great job by Greg Rucka!

President Barack H. Obama

well...Obama and Biden won.

the American liberals are celebrating their victory across the US as racial barriers are broken in the form of our first African-American President.

President Barack H. Obama & VP Joe R. Biden Jr.

all i have to say is...

Palin/Huckabee 2012!

Happy E-Day, everyone!

Happy Election Day to all!

well...it's finally here.

the bitter contest between fighters McCain and Obama ends today.

one winner. a lot of losers (3rd party and such...)

or, rather, half a country full of winners, another half full of losers...

i'm so excited!

my vote was cast last Saturday...today's the big day though!

either we'll see President John Sidney McCain III and Vice President Sarah Louise Heath Palin...

or we'll see President Barack Hussein Obama II and Vice President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr....

this is it, folks! this is...E-Day.

Geoff and EVS

basically, most everyone acknowledges Geoff Johns as the greatest writer in comics today. he balances comics like no one else! he's writing Green Lantern, Action Comics, Justice Society of America, Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds, a Faces of Evil special or two, and The Flash: Rebirth. he's insane!

then, there's Ethan Van Sciver. he's widely recognized as one of the most brilliant artists in comics today. his style is so realistic and yet, so beautiful. he's highly sought-after just for covers! not even the stuff inside, no! just the cover! because his style is so...breathtaking, it takes him a while to draw it! so, he can only do an issue here, or an issue there.

until you combine them.

The Flash: Iron Heights was freakin amazing!
Green Lantern: Rebirth was freakin amazing!
Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special was freakin amazing!
the Blackest Night preview in Green Lantern #25 was freakin amazing!
The Flash: Rebirth looks to be freakin amazing!
Green Lantern: The Blackest Night looks to be freakin amazing!

this is today's superteam in comics ladies and gentlemen!

and let's not forget the man who completes this superteam! Moose Baumann: the colorist!

these guys are unstoppable!

The Avengers vs the Justice League

well, for those of you that saw Iron Man and waited til the end, you knew something big was coming. then, The Incredible Hulk had it's scene at the end, furthering rumor.

The Avengers is coming.

next Spring, Iron Man II is gonna be filming. Thor will probably be filming next year as well.

the next year, they'll be filming The First Avenger: Captain America. and The Avengers.

the possibility of an Ant-Man movie is becoming more and more slim, as is Nick Fury: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (luckily, we'll be seeing enough of him in Iron Man II...)

WB is finally catching on and is starting up their "lead-up to a team-up" program. Green Arrow: Escape from Supermax has the green light. Green Lantern and The Flash are being written. Batman III is about to start very soon. Superman VII (the reboot) is about to start up. Wonder Woman's still in the development phase, however...

personally, most of the casting is easy:
Superman: Brandon Routh
Batman: Christian Bale
Wonder Woman: ?
The Flash (Wally): Ryan Reynolds
Green Lantern: ?
Aquaman: Matt Damon?
Martian Manhunter: Laurence Fishburne
some "Reserve" Leaguers:
The Atom: Bill Pullman
Elongated Man: Will Ferrell?
Hawkman: ?
Hawkgirl: ?
Green Arrow: ?
Black Canary: ?
Plastic Man: Jim Carrey
Captain Marvel: ?

that's my thoughts on this insanity...

hmmm...

well...i haven't posted for a few days. sorry?

the War of Light has essentially begun. so far, there's Green (and a Blue) vs. Red vs. Yellow Lanterns. Violet is forming in GLC. Orange is coming very soon...(Agent Orange, anyone?) Indigo...hmmm...no word on them yet.

Final Crisis 4 of 7 was pretty freakin criz-nazy. Submit was pretty cool too. Resist comes out next week. then i have to wait until the 26th!!!for 5 of 7 to come out. oy.

The Flash ends in Dec with 247 (only 2 ish away!) and doesn't get squat til April with Rebirth 1 of 5/6?. speaking of which, does Rebirth have 5 issues or 6? nowhere have we found out...we have to wait until Jan 15th-ish to find out.

so, things are picking up speed, headed towards a conclusion, or somewhere inbetween. Detective Comics (DC) Comics rules!

btw: i am now the unofficial number one fan of Jay Garrick! woot for the first Flash and his Mercury helmet!

68 reasons.

reason 68:
-time travel.

whether it be through the cosmic treadmill or just boppin through time, time travel makes The Flash one bad@$$ hero!

tomorrow:
reason 67:
-Kid Flash.

Friday, October 24, 2008

69 reasons.

there's 68 days left until 2009 comes. January 2009 will be the 69th anniversary of The Flash's first appearance. so, i'm gonna do a sortof countdown to that event with 69 reasons why The Flash is awesome! approximately one per day, starting today.

reason 69:
-his costume.

whether it be the classic Mercury helmet of Jay Garrick, the sleek boot wings of Barry Allen, or the lightning trailing off of Wally West as he runs, there's no doubt that his costumes are the best!

tomorrow:
reason 68:
-time travel.

Flash Comics

so far, the only Flash comics reprinted in book form are:

Volume 1(1940-1985*):
1-24, 66, 86, 104-141, 143, 148, 155, 165, 175, and 179.

Volume 2 (1987-2008**):
0, 2, 62-65, 74-79, 91-100, 108-118, 130-135, 164-225, and 231-237.

Volume "3"*** (2006-2007):
1-13 (complete series)

Impulse (Volume 2.5):
1-6, 9-11, and 62-66.

*technically, there was a hiatus from 1951-ish to 1956, as the golden age slowly led to the silver age.
**another hiatus. 1987-2006, 2007-2008. also, 247 is the (second****) last issue in the series (Dec). next Spring, The Flash: Rebirth will come out, followed by whatever relaunch of the series.
***the series was actually called "The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive".
****January 2006 was supposed to be the last issue of The Flash (230), until they relaunched it after killing off Wally's protege. now, they're killing it yet again at 247 this December. next Spring, The Flash will finally be made right!

The End of Heroes (preview)

Issue 1 synopsis:
The story opens at Bruce Wayne’s 75th birthday party, as he is brutally murdered by an unknown assailant. The current heroes of the time, the Justice Titans, who are actually the children of the old guard, are finishing up on a recent mission. However, three of their number stayed behind at their HQ just in case something came up. They don’t stand a chance. Tempest, daughter of the late third Aquaman, Red Arrow, daughter of the late Roy Harper, and Darkstar, son of the late Donna Troy, are martyrs for the first serious mystery this team has had to encounter. There is only one active hero remaining of the old guard, and protecting him may prove to be more of a hassle than they had wished for!

Caption: When the murder of the heroes you’re probably a little more familiar with began. Or, as we here in the year 2040 call them, the "old guard".

The Flash/post-Rebirth.

obviously Barry Allen is going to be The Flash after The Flash: Rebirth is over.
but, what about Wally West? Jay Garrick? Bart Allen?
basically, Barry will be Central City's Flash. that's a given.
but, Wally will be Keystone City's Flash, in a sort of Green Lantern way (Hal/John as the GL's of 2814, Kyle/Guy as "Honor Guard" on Oa.)
Jay/Alan Scott/Ted Grant will all retire/die/time-travel. i don't care, just get them OUT.
Bart may or may not come back in Legion of 3 Worlds...if he does, either keep him there as Impulse, or bring him back as Kid Flash. he can join the Teen Titans again, be Barry's sidekick, etc.
Wally's kids (Iris/Jai) are going to school like normal kids now. maybe have them become de-powered...(?)
Wally/Linda stay married/happy/ALIVE.
Barry/Iris (not Wally's daughter, his aunt) get back together, stay married/happy.
IF Bart comes to 21st century as KF, have him get back with Valerie Perez, stay dating/happy/alive...
have Geoff Johns/GOOD artist (NOT Scott Kolins) stay on The Flash for a long time...

that's today's ramblings. tomorrow, i'll post a preview of my rough draft of my comic book storyline!

-J.

brand-freakin-new!

well...now i have a blog...

i'll be posting ideas, writings, thoughts, and whatnot here...enjoy.
